Forgetfulness is Costly

I'll tell you what, forgeting things is never good. So here's the story. My car in an oil hog and a half. Seriously I need to add oil in that thing all the time. Well I usually don't remember until the oil light comes on (or as my dad would say, the "stupid light"). Well this time I was good and remembered to check the oil before that little red light came on, of course it was low. So I had to go and buy me some oil and fill it up yet again. Well here comes the costly forgetfulness. I forgot to put the oil cap back on. So I go driving around to see my patients, and as I'm driving home my car starts to smell (no, not like the smoke and cats it normally smells like). Then it starts to pore a little smoke out of the engine. Yipee! So I run inside and tell my dad the good news. He goes and checks on it and that's when I found out I didn't replace the cap. The oil was all over my engine and burning, which was causing the smell. So we went and bought a new cap, because who knows were it went. My dad went to go clean all the oil off, and who would have guess it we found my old oil cap wedged in the engine somewhere. Well that's not the expensive part. So the next day I'm went out to go see my patients for the day, and my check engine light comes on, and my car starts shaking like it's have a seizure! And I was stuck at stupid 12th street, and Wall. You've got to love that construction. I called my dad and we decided it was best just for me to drive it to shop to see what's up. Well I was stuck at that light for a good 3 lights, the whole time getting whiplash from the shaking of my car (yes, that is a huge exaggeration). Finally make it to the shop and my dad comes picks me up. I had to cancel all my patients for the day. Well later on we get the call saying my cars fixed, turns out some of the oil that spilled out when I didn't put the cap back on got into the engine coils and ruined one and was working its way into ruining a second one. Well $273.48 later I'm driving my car home! So as a warning make sure you always put the cap back on.

I'm surprised that you even know what an oil cap is. JK.
Very impressed that you added oil by yourself but that is lousy that such a little thing cost so much.

Yes, cars must have oil! That is nothing...trying to save $, I had a friend of a friend change my oil.
They did not screw the filter on tight and it fell off, by the time I got 5 blocks it ruined my engine. So consider yourself lucky.
OH....happy belated birthday girl!
